WEST HARBOUR BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Tho monthly meeting of the West Harbour Borough Council, held last night, was attended by the Mayor (Mr H. E. Moller) and Cm A. Smith, J. T. Downes. C. M. French, J. W. H. Clarke, J. Baird, J. Robb, F. Mitchell, and J. Kay. 'ilio Secretary of the Ravensbourne Ladies’ Hockey Club wrote making application for the use of tho hookey ground at Ravcnsbourne for the season 1924.—1 t was decided to grant the request. The Secretary of tho Otago Rugby Football Union applied for tho uso of two grounds for the forthcoming football season. —Tho letter was received, the town clerk to make suitable arrangements with tho local dub and the Otago Rugby Union. Hi© Secretary of the Ravensoourne Association Football Club wrote askimr that if his club took the responsibility of cleaning, repairing, and of generally looking after the one room of the pavilion which tho club occupied, would the council grant his club the exclusive right of locking that room when not in use ? —lt was decided to grant, the request Mrs A- White, who wrote on behalf of herself and other residents of Blanket Bay, drew attention to the road-line from the tunnel to Sawyers’ Bay station, which was fenced by Mr Robert Aburn. The said land was a Government road-line, and they wished tho fence to be removed. Owing to Mr Ahum having the land ploughed it was very uneven to walk on. and they asked the council to form and level the footpath.—lt was decided that Mr Aburn be asked to move his fence off the roadline, and that Mrs White be informed that the council was not willing to put in a footpath, as it already had one at the “zigzag.” Mr Felix Mitchell, secretary of the Ravensbourne Amenities Society, wrote stating that at a meeting of the society the question of pruning the plantation of trees on 'he south side of the railway station was considered. His committee was of the opinion that these trees would bo vastly improved if the lower branches were cut off hv a qualified gardener before next spring. He had been instructed to ask (hat permission be given for the society to put on a man to do tho work, and that the council permit the surfacemen to assist.— It w>s decided, toyjrant the request.
