RETURNED SOLDIERS EXECUTIVE.

The fortnightly meeting of the executive of tho Dunedin 'Returned Soldiers’ Association was held last night, when the Rev. Hector Maclean occupied the chair. one now member was enrolled, three outward transfers were made, and four resignations were accepted. Further correspondence was received from headquarters asking tho Dunedin executive to reconsider its decision made regarding the Poppy Day funds. It was decided to reply notifying the executive’s intention of adhering to its original decision. The general secretary, headquarters, notified that, tho next dominion council meeting would bo held in Christchurch on June 7. It was decided to write lo Mr C. E. Archibald, who has resigned from tho position of secretary of the Land Board, expressing tho thanks of tho executive for the assistance he had rendered the association in its affairs with the board and wishing him every success in the future. The Anzac Day sub-committee reported that tho secretary had 1 boon authorised to proouro His Majesty’s Theatre for the afternoon of Anzac Day, April 25. The report added that it was understood that the South African veterans would bo parading with the returned soldiers and would bo takingseats with them in the theatre. It had been decided to ask the Higland Pipe Band to play on tho march, the Kaikorai and St. Iviida bands to assist in the theatre service, and the Cadet Bugle Band to play the “Last Post” and tho “Reveille.”

Wreaths were being asked for from tho local bodies who contributed last year, and the committee had decided that, after tho service. the wreaths be taken from the theatre and laid on the foundation stone of tho war memorial. The pit of tho theatre, the report concluded, would be reserved for any Territorials and Senior Cadets whom it might bo necessary to seat, and if no arrangement in that direction oould bo made it, would be thrown open to tho general public.
