TWO MOTORS DESTROYED. SIX-ROOMED HOUSE BURNT. (Per United Press Association.) GISBORNE. March 31. At Mangapapa on Sunday morning a shed used as a garage by Sim and M‘Ara, storekeepers, was destroyed by lire, and a one-ton Ford truck was burnt. In the sheii was a motor bus, the property of Mr J. Cohan, which was also destroyed. The building and lorry were insured for £IOO each and the motor bus for £450, all in the National Insurance Office. Early this morning a six-roomed house at Mangapapa owned by the Buchanan Estate and occupied by Mr G. Barnard, was destroyed by fire. The house was insured for £4OO in the Phoenix Office, and the furniture for £225 in the Fanners’ Co-operative Company. FOUR-ROOMED HOUSE DESTROYED. IFboh Ouh Own Correspondent.) ALEXANDRA, March 31. On Sunday evening at 8 o’clock a fourroomed house occupied by Mr William Kitto, and situated on the Earnscleugh side of the Molynoux River, was destroyed by lire. The house, being wholly of wood, the conflagration was seen for miles. The Alexandra Fire Brigade attended, but as there was not sufficient pressure available the firemen could not do anything to combat the flames. The house was owned by Mr William A. Bodkin, and was insured m the State Office. The furniture and effects were insured for £IOO in tire Australian Provincial Office. GORSE AND GRASS FIRE. The City Fire Brigade and the South Dunedin section of the brigade were called out at 2.45 p.m. yesterday to Sidey street, Caversham, where a gorse and grass fire had broken out. The flames were suppressed before any damage had been done. SIX-ROOMED HOUSE DAMAGED. The City Brigade received a call at 1.52 this morning to a tire in a six-roomed wooden building at the corner of Castle and Uundas streets. The house was owned by Miss Grade, and occupied by Mr Chapman. The kitchen and back portion of the building were badly burned, but the front portion escaped damage. The house is insured in the Ocean and Accident Office for £7OO and the furniture in the Alliance Office. ♦ .
