LEGALLY DEAD FOR FIFTEEN YEARS. STRANGE CASE OF A SEAMAN. (Pee United Pebss amocutkw.i WELLINGTON, March 31. Declared dead by the Supreme Court over 15 years ago, Walter Neileon was invested with life on Saturday last, after being missing for 20 years. Neiison, who is a seafaring man, was assumed by his family to bo dead in 1902, and Mr Justice Cooper granted an order declaring him so at the end of the customary seven years. Thus since 1909 the man has been dead in the eyes of the law, and the interest in his estate has since found its way to his children. The missing man, always a wanderer, has voyaged over the civilised globe since he was last heard of, and bo now follows the calling of ship’s cook. He was saved from several torpedoed ships during the war. On satisfactory proof of has identity being given, the Chief Justice granted an order reinvesting Neiison with legal personality.
