A benefit concert, initiated by tbe Ancient Order of Foresters, in aid of two members of Court Enterprise, was held in the Early, Settlers’ Kail last evening, when, there was a large attendance. Bro. A very amusing recitation was given, by Miss Anita Winkel, and Mr J Gilchrist proved a clever ventriloquist, and extracted a lot of fun from “Jerry.” Bro. Sydney Taylor’s singing was exceptionally pleasing, and on Mrs Astley Black making her second appearance she was just as warmly applauded as before. Bro. Alex. M’Leod and Mrs C. H. Isaacs both easily won the approval of the audience by their einging, and the welcome accorded Miss Anita Winkel when appearing again in the role of a reciter showed that her previous successful eSort had not been forgotten. Mr Bert Rawlinson can always be relied upon to sing a good song, and he did not fail to sustain bis reputation as a popular vocalist. The dance music was supplied by Piper Lament, and Miss Rita Holmes is to be complimented upon the way she played the pianoforte accompaniments for the singers. A dance followed the concert.
