HUSBAND VICTIMISED

(Received Feb. 21, at 11.45 p.m.) Arthur Henry Binstead and Ruby Grace were committed for trial on a charge of stealing coins and jewellery to the value of £l£ill from Mark Grace, the husband of Ruby Grace. The police produced a statement alleged to have been made by Ruby Grace in which she declared that Binstead induced her to go away with him. He gave her pills which made her unconscious. After staying away tog-other for a week she returned homo She gave Binstead in charge and afterwards bailed him out The next night, allegedly under Binstead’* compelling influence, she took a quantity of valuable jewellery from bar husband’s shop and rejoined Binstead. The couple, under an assumed name, proceeded to Newcastle and Ipswich, where they pawned some of the jewels and coins. From Ipswich Binstead sent Grace to Brisbane to pawn others, saying that be could not go because he was known by every detective there. Next day the couple were arrested. Grace pleaded that when she took her husband’s jewellery she was under Bin» stead’s hypnotic power.
