NORFOLK ISLAND FRUITGROWERS

SYDNEY, February 2,

Lieutenant-General Parnell (Administrator of Norfolk Island), on being interviewed, said Norfolk Island fruit-growers were concerned about the disposal of their fruit. The voyage to Sydney occupied five days, whereas there would be a saving of two days if a steamer were running to Auckland, and there would be less chance of the fruit deteriorating. General Parnell added that there was a possibility of arrangements being made- to include Norfolk Island in the route to and from New Zealand. WRECKAGE WASHED ASHORE. SYDNEY, February 3. (Received Feb. 3, at 5.5 p.m.) Investigations are proceeding in connection with a quantity of wreckage, including numbers of hatches, which have been washed ashore between Port Stephens and the Seal Rocks. So far the authorities are unable to decide whether these are from a wrecked vessel or merely the flotsam from passing ships.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
