ATTACK UPON MISTRESS

MAID USES A HAMMER. t LONDON, December 31. “I did it because she said I was a last woman,” said Dorothy Foster, a maid •aged 24 years, to the police when arrested for striking her mistress with a hammer. “I got the hammer downstairs and hit her. I then telephoned to the police. Foster subsequently made a lengthy statement, which the police have not disclosed. When she appeared crying in the loot to-day the magistrate said: “The motive she gives is so ridiculous that she had better be nfedically examined.” Mrs Rogers, her mistress, was struck six times. It is believed, however, that she will recover.
