THE TAIHAPE MURDER.
ACCUSED BEFORE THE COURT. REMANDED TILL JANUARY 18. OUB Own COBBESPQNDENT.) WANGANUI, January 11. Anthony Moghau was brought befire the court at Wanganui to-day and charged with the murder of Gordon John Gommell at Taihape on January Z. Superintendent Fcuhy applied for a remand until January 18 at Taihape. He stated that the police bad a number of inquiries to make and were not yet ready to proceed with the preliminary hearing of the case. Moghan, when asked if he had anything to say to the remand, replied in a clear voice: “I plead not guilfey and reserve my defence.” Tile clerk informed him that he was not asked to plead, but merely to state whether he had any objections to the date of the remand, to which accused replied, “No.” 'Hie remand as asked for was then granted. Moghan, who is bordering on 50 years of age, is a man of strong build, with fresh complexion and grey hair. When he entered the court in company with two constables he appeared to be agitated, and on sitting down his arms and hands were noticed to be trembling. Before the case was called he stepped into the dock and glanced round, making a hurried survey of the interior of the building.
