N.Z. AND SOUTH SEAS EXHIBITION COMPANY.

MEETING OF DIRECTORS. A meeting of the directors of the New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition Company was held last evening, Mr J. Sutherland Ross (chairman of directors) presiding. There were also present Messrs C. Speight, C. Todd, P. L. Haisted, A. Barnett, H. F. Sincook, and W. R. Hayward. In connection with a waterway at Logan Park, the chairman stated that it had been stressed that the proper place for a waterway was on tho extreme east of tho Logan Point side.—Consideration was deferred. In connection with a great deal of correspondence between tho secretary and tho Controller of Customs, the chairman mentioned that the Customs people were prepared to meet them in every possible way. They were prepared to forgo tho primage and to assess the goods for duty at their value at the end of the Exhibition.—Tho correspondence was approved. Tho secretary (Mr Spence) stated that he had written to local agents of shipping companies with a view to getting a concession on tho freights on exhibits. Most of them had referred the matter to their head office. He suggested that the matter be referred to the Transport Committee, and this was agreed to. The Town Clerk, Dunedin, wrote acknowledging receipt of a letter from tho secretary as to a highway, and staled that the council was dealing with the matter, which was a long way from being definitely settled. Between two and three months must elapse before a vote of the ratepayers could be taken on the matter, which must for the present remain in abeyance.—Received. Mr George Apnow, head schoolmaster at Samoa, wrote asking for information about sending a school exhibit to the Exhibition. The question of sending a party of Samoans might be worth considering.—lnformation to be supplied ; Mr Agnew to bo informed that the Administrator at Samoa had already been written to on the subject. The secretary (Mr Spence) mentioned that ho had sent preliminary circulars to foreign consuls, and had received a sympathetic reply from all of them. Tho financial statement disclosed that the expenditure amounted to £128 2 ancf tho receipts to £14,263, leaving a balance of £12,981. Accounts amounting to £BS were passed for payment, included in tho sum being £SO annual license fee to lie paid to the Stamp Department. Four hundred and seventy new shares were allotted, making a total of £71,757. On tho motion' of Mr Haisted it was resolved that the architect be ashed to report immediately as to whether in his opinion it would bo possible to have the Exhibition onenecl in a finished state by October, 1925.
