Vice-Regal. A cablegram from Sydney states that Viscountess and the Hon. Lucy Jellicoo have returned from their holiday to the East. They will sail for New Zealand by the Maheno on Friday. Sir George Fenwick returned from .Christchurch by the first express yesterday. Mr H. K. Wilkinson was a passenger for the north by the second express yesterday Mr J. A. Shand, sub-editor of the New Zealand Times, has been on a short visit to Dunedin, and will return north this morning. It is understood that, owing to indifferent health, Miss Ewart, who has been matron of the Southland Hospital for the past 23 years, has tendered her resignation to the board. Mr D. Murray, one-time head master of the North-East v alley School, and now residing in Auckland, arrived in Dunedin by the first express yesterday. Dr Chesson, who has been .relieving Dr M’Kibbin as local medical officer of health, returned north by the second express yesterday. Mr D. Macdonald, head auctioneer for a number of years of the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Association, has joined the service of the National Mortgage and Agency Company as chief auctioneer and head of the auction department at the company’s Christchurch branch.
