RETREAT FOR BORED WIVES.

A scholastic retreat where bored wives can get away from husbands, children, and petty annoyances will be provided for the alumnae of Vassar, America’s famous college for women, .Dr MacCrackcn, president of Vassar, explains that the idea originated in 1921, when 15,000 alumnae returned to the college to renew acquaintanceship, and many expressed a desire to return once again to the scholastic shades, with the opportunity of an environment in which they could write a book or a play held in contemplation for years, or take up the study of better schools, prison reform, the social world, or undertake the reading which mftny women plan in early years, but for which they hardly ever find time when they have launched on a domestic career. The 'Misses Ferry, daughters of a successful florist and seedsman, of Detroit, Michigan, subscribed the £BO,OOO necessary for the building, the erection of which will be completed next spring. There will bo no organ'fled course of study, and no professors. “All we have in mind,” says Dr MacCracken, ” is a school for fostering- iho idea of creative work and study.”
