DEATH OF A WOMAN. (P« United Press Abspciation.) AUCKLAND, January 10. An inquiry into the death of Kate Duggan and an autopsy by two doctors supports the opinion that it was due to natural causes, though the result of a post morten examination has not yet been disclosed. It appears that some marks on. the neck suggested the possibility of strangulation, but it is now understood that these wore due to advanced decompositioii. SUICIDE ATTEMPTED. (Peh United Pbess Association.) GREYMOUTH, January _ 10. Ambrose Kearin, aged 25, a patient in the Grey River Hospital, cut his throat at the institution yesterday. The injury is serious but it is not expected to be fatal. A LABOURER’S DEATH. (Pek United Press Association.) W AIM ATE, January 10. James Shute, a labourer, aged 43, a married man with three children, was found shot. The indications point to suicide, A narrow escape from death was experienced by Mr D. Murray, a well-known sheepowner, who resides at Baklutha, while motoring on the Kaka Point road yesterday. The car went, over a bank at a spot where the road is particularly narrow. Mr Murray sustained numerous cuts and bruises, and was considerably shaken. The car waa badly damaged. The injured man was removed to his seaside cottage at Kaka Point, where he received attention by Dr Cora Stenhouse, of Balclutha. Latest reports are to the effect that %ir Murray is making satisfactory progress.
