After an absence of nine years five steamers of the North German Lloyd Line were to make their reappearance at Southampton last month. This is bronght about by the recent decision of the company to recommence its Bremen-Bouthampton-Kew York service. The service is to be commenced by the Columbus, and there will be a monthly sailing from Bremen until when two new vessels of smaller dimensions, the Munsen and Stuttgart, .will join and so make fortnightly sailings. The vessels, according to the present arrangements, will call in the river to disembark passengers, but the company, it is thought, will eventually revert to the former plan of sending the vessels up to the Southampton dock. With the reappearance of the North German Lloyd liners it is interesting to recall the fact that the only German ship ping concern that has not returned to Southampton, and which served the port before the war, is the Hamburg-South America Line.
