HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE.
The word has evidently already been passed round that His Majesty’s'-Tboatreis just now the location of something special in theatrical production. A larger audience gathered last night to hear and see the drollery of Mr Lawrence Grossmith in the unusual comedy staged under the title “Ambrose Litlejohn’s Adventure.” _ As the swashbuckling Captain Applejack, th® comedian provides rich melodrama of . a highly-diverting type, but it is in the' quieter movement of the first act, without the aid of make-up, that the artist does liis cleverest woi'k, altholgh his involuntary mixing, of the, two characters in the' third act' is irresistibly amusing. Miss Diana Wilson makes the alleged Russian refugee, Ajma Yaleska. . a very vivid and picturesque figure; Miss Dorothy Seaconibe is a winsome and altogether desirable Poppy Faire; and, indeed, the supporting artists as a whole fit into their various niches in a wholly satisfying manner. There will be two more presentations of this attractive comedy.
