' Planks put' in at M‘Clew’s crossing and road graded in worst places, also a cut made at gale coming out of yard to take water which comes through gate and cuts across road. , Water is now all away from part' complained of, but pipes on a higher level will be required as old culvert is too low and covers are broken. Road was very hard, but with traffic will be all right, although a little hard. Made an inspection of the Dunback-Macraea. road. As far. as I, can see the whole of this road has been gravelled except about 10 chains at Walker’s Gully. Maintenance gravel required at several places and gravel at far end. Green Valley Riding: General surface work: road and crossings in good order. Meadow Batik Riding: Surface work on Taieri Peak road near Pirrie’a yards and on hill past yards. At Black Pinch arranged for a few leads of metal. Inspected road work done on Trotter’s road, and a very good job has been made. Taken all round, the roods in this riding are in very good order now. The worst parts of the Dun-back-Macraes road are at the top of Walker’s Gully and two flats pest this part.
