FIRES.
FIVE-ROOMED HOUSE DAMAGED. (Per United Pbess Assojiatjon.) WELLINGTON, December 11. A fire occurred in Boulcott street at 10.15 this morning in a five-roomed dwelling, occupied' by Thomas Andrews and owned by the Christian Science Society. The bunding and contents were severely damaged. The. contents were insured for £2CO in. the Victoria office, and the dwelling, together with a hall in front, for £IO9O in tne New Zealand and Commercial offices. BLAZE AT RAKAXA. A well-known property in Rokaia, the residence for very many years of the late Hon. C. A, C. Hardy, M.L.C., and only recently purchased from the executors of his estate by Mr L. Basher, was destroyed by fire on Sunday night. The fire spread with great rapidity, so that the effects saved were almost nil. Two ijooms were occupied by the Rev. J. Field, Methodist minister, aiid Mrs Field. They lost almost all their belongings. A LOCAL CALL. The Piro Brigade received" a call at 6.20 last night to the railway engine sheds, where its services were required to extinguish an outbreak in a stack: of firewood. The damage' was slight.
