ROYAL AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A meeting of the members of the proposed Royal Agricultural Society will bo held in Wellington on Thursday of next week, when it is expected that this society will bo properly launched, officers elected, and a council appointed to control same. It is proposed that a small committee be elected to negotiate with the Manawatu A. and P. Association in respect to holding the first Royal Show at Palmerston North at the end of next year. A recommendation will be submitted that the president of the executive of the council of agriculture should be elected as the first committee, but it is understood that some members do not approve of this proposal, and consider that whilst the first president might be selected from the council, the main committee should bo appointed from the executive of the association where the show will be held, and arrangements made that the services of its secretary should bo obtained in carrying out all details. Mr K. F. Duthie, a member of the executive of the council, and also a member of the Royal .Society, is unfortunately unable to be present at this meeting, but it is hoped that Mr James Hogg, who will bo in Wellington during that week, will bo able to be present.
