WELLINGTON, December 7. The second wool sales of the Wellington season opened to-night, when two catalogues were sold. A line of .super Romneys was passed in at 28td, and lots were passed at IGJd, Xfijd, 22Jd, and There was a fair amount passed in this range, but the limit was reached whan- a lot was passed at 28-id, and most of the remainder was passed without being put up. There were some very fine super merinos from the wellknown clip of Mr Charles Goultor, the noted stud merino breeder of Marlborough, and other good wools came from Blenheim, rarapa, and Feilding. Then) was a. full bench of buyers, representing Bradford. France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United States, and the local mills. From the outset bidding was lively, and competition was very keen and spirited throughout the evening, nearly every section of the buyers operating. Prices ruled slightly in buyers favour taking the quality into consideration. The present indications do not show marked advance. After the first catalogue* the passings were few, the passings in the first catalogue being due to what were regarded as unduly high reserves. In the second catalogue 27d was the best price recorded, this being for Gorriedalea. Crossbreds aro fully as firm at slightly better than November prices. The sale will continue to-mor-row. The total catalogue was 27,003 bales.
