THE HICKSON MISSION.

Services of Thanksgiving. A NUMBER OF TESTIMONIES READ. , Services of thanksgiving, identical in nature, were held in St. Paul’s Cathedral, and St. Matthew's Church last night as a fitting close to the faith healing mission conducted by Mr J. M. Hickson. There • was a good attendance at; each place. The service was appropriate to the occasion, the hymns and chants having boon carefully chosen. Probably the most striking feature of a memorable service was the solemn redilal by Bishop Richards of testimonies from 38 people who claimed to have received spiritual and physical benefit. Names were not announced, the testimonies as read being prepared from the dictation of Canon Curzon-Siggers. Following 'are th© testimonies as road;— ANSWERS TO PRAYER BEFORE THE MISSION ARRIVED. 1. Inflammation of brain, patient recovered. 2. Person aged 70 thought to bo dying of cancer, in acute pain. In answer to prayer pain ceased. Doctor stopped visits. Patient very bright. 3. From a burn several years ago mail's lett toot had always felt as though he had a sole of lead on his boot, making his leg feel very tired and himself often weary and depressed. While walking along the street the day before tho mission the numbness of foot and weight disappeared. The foot now feels light and springy like the other. 4. Stomach trouble, greatly improved; now able to take full diet without harm. 5. In advanced state of consumption. Experienced a wonderful change las; Wednesday week. Has now strength, held a chair at arm’s length. Visited in sanatorium later by Mr Hickson; result not known. 6. Child three years of age, was in hospital, thought to bo dying with bronchitis and pneumonia. Recovered, and- now at home. 7. Man 43 years ago lost left eye through an accident; other eye affected with weak sight; 18 years ago cataract began to grow on right eye. During last six years was led about; totally blind for three weeks. Ho then enrolled as a patient for the mission and was prayed for. A week later bis sight suddenly recovered. Cataract had removed from eye. Seme days later the film was seen in corner of the eye and removed by his wife. Sight improving daily. Can read with aid of glass. A week ago ho saw from tho Town Belt the ferry boat coming from Macnndrew’s Bay. 8. Epilepsy, considerably improved. Expects permanent euro. RESULTS SINCE MISSION. Spiritual results: — 9. Great spiritual blessing. Realises how thankful she should bo for health and strength and many mercies. 10. Woman asked sister to fell her minister, at present absent from Dunedin, that she had been completely healed, and above all that she had found Christ. 11. G/eat spiritual help. 12. Groat spiritual blessing. Says 75 por cent, hotter, sleeps and eats much lietter. This patient suffered from disseminated sclerosis. 13. After laying on of hands she felt a calm restfulness, pence, and wonderful uplifting, and feels confident she is cured of heart spasm. 14. Derived great benefit, and feels much better spiritually and physically. 15. As an intercessor she felt tjie four hours’ kneeling passed all too quickly, and the Church's blessing seemed to fall like a benediction over all. 16. She got a great blessing, and feels greatly strengthened in body, and believes a euro has only begun, and will go on till no trace of the trouble remains. Physical results: — 17. Child of two years of age, eye closed from birth. This closed eye opened on Sunday. Child received sight on Wednesday after laying on of hands. This was a had case, 18. Child years old, mentally afflicted, previously no speech and little movement. Now making childish sounds and moving about restlessly. 19. Woman aged 75 crippled with rheumatics in knees.. After returning from healing service walked about with considerable freedom, without any sticks. Still doing so. 20. Woman aged 60. Visited in her home by Mr Hickson. Previously unable to walk. Now reports she can walk slowly about room. Swelling in her legs reduced. _ • 21. Rheumatoid arthritis. Report great improvement. Able to do housework yesterday without pain. 22. Rheumatoid arthritis. Her right arm and shoulder were verv had. After laying on of hands she could nut up her arm a good deal further than before, and without much pain. It now clicks ns the other joints do. She firmly believes she will get quiie well. . So far she has only a little strength in her arm. but certainly more in the right arm. She has gained much help spiritually by attending prayer meetings. 23. A man rang up the secretary from some miles out of Dunedin, who had tor a long time had an impediment in his speech and stuttering, and he spoke to tho secretary for three, minutes clearly and quickly. 24. A man suffering for years from chronic asthma reported to a sister who knows him personally that his asthma hod entirely disappeared, and he now felt quite well. 25. Another man reported to a sister that he had for years suffered from sciatica and that now he had no pain whatever. 26. Woman wilh cataract fools much better in general health, and improvement revealing itself in cataract of left eye. Can read and knit longer than before. ?7. This woman offered to give up her ticket to enable others to come in. It was returned to her by the secretary. She came, and reports a great load has lifted off her mind that has been there for years. 28. A man in Southland notifies th® bishop that he has rcirained tho use of his_ right leg after attending tho mission service on Wednesday. . . 29. Young woman received spiritual and physical blessings. Film had a stiff shoulder from rheumatoid arthritis, and not able u> life her arm. Immediately after laying on of hands could lift her arm and put on 30. Woman returns hearty thanks for benefits received in relief of rheumatism and her nerves, and spiritual help. She can hardly describe tho soothing effect of Mr Heywood’s" music on her nerves. She thought the whole service was a foretaste of Heaven. 31 A woman, serious case, was carried into the Cathedral on Thursday, and when she came out she was able to walk about in the refreshment tent. On applying to tier step-mother she confirmed the statement that she could walk about. 32. A woman who had suffered for several years from the after-effects of meningitis and unable to walk or use her hands, and incapable of even feeding herself, was present on Tuesday. After tho service she fed herself, and walked across the room. On Wednesday she walked a block and a-half from her home and back again. 33. A young woman, practically blind in one eye from birth, now sees perfectly. 34. Man, suffering from pulmonary tuberculosis, felt a rush of blood into the lungs at tho laying on of hands. Ho feels hourly better. 55. University man who had suffered from an impediment in his speech is much improved. 36. Patient too weak to be present at the CWlhedrn! shows improvement daily on learning that she could bo taken to the Hospital. 37. Woman suffering from spinal trouble relieved. Had the best sleep for years. 38. Man with cancer relieved. Able to walk from Cnversham to St. Kilda and back without fatigue.
