Mr J. Elliot presided at the monthly meeting of the North-East Valley .School Committee, held, on Tuesday evening, all the members being present. In connection with the forthcoming .break-up £2O was allotted to the prize fund, and it was decided to. .hold'. it in (he local Town Hall, on Thursday,-Decem-ber 20. The bead master reported that the attendance continued to be .'very satisfactory. Mr Ritchie had been appointed relieving first assistant ill place of Mr Grant, and the school bond was making good progress, havinglearned several new pieces. Mr -Bardsley (convener of the Band Committee) proposed that the school band bo given a social on its last practice night for this year, and this was agreed to. Permission was, granted the president of the Ex-pupils’ Association to pro;jgeh't four prizes at the brealy-ub to pupils "who bad shown most progress during the year in cl a work! The.-resignation of Miss Mary AVallace from the teaching staff was accepted with regret. The monthly meeting of the Kaikotai •School Committe, held bn Saturday Last, was attended by the chairman, the secretary, and Messrs Armit, MTntosh, Millar, and Sinclair. The head master’s monthly report showed a further rise in attendance figures, the total roll being 604. giving an average of 578. He also suggested a school picnic in the early part of next year. The suggestion was approved, and left in the hands of the teachers. The sum of £25 was allocated for the purcßase of prize's to be awarded on break-up day. A meeting of the committee of the Dunedin Fanciers’. . Club was held on Tuesday evening in the secretary’s board room: Mr W "Esquilant presiding. Mr CL Morris wrote accepting the position cf vice-president, and enclosed a donation- The Hon. TV. Downie Stewart and Mr, V. F. Edmond wrote accepting the position of' vice-patrqns, and enclosing donations.' The Mayor (Mr H. L. Tapley) wrote accepting the position of patron of the club! Mr .'Keith Ramsay wrote thanking the members for electing; hijri a life member, and stating that he appreciated very much the honour conferred upon him. , Mr J. Danskip wrote stating that he would be pleased to accept the appointment of hon. veterinary Burgeon. .The South Island Poultry Association- advised that its- annuaj meeting ■should bo held at Christchurch on December 17, -ind submitted the order -paper: The members considered .the. various’remits, and the club’s delegate' was instructed how to vote thereon. The monthly meeting, of ■ the Anderson’s Bay School Committee Was held on Wednesday last, the following members being present; —Mosers J. C. •H. Somerville (chairman), B. 8. Cox. XL Griffiths.-;\V. G. Kirkwood. N. W.. M'Kay, G. E Pearce, and J.. E. Wheeler.. The Head Master reported that the average attendance for the last four weeks was 310 out of a roll number of 317. Since the introduction of. the attendance banner there had been keen rivalry between the various standards; and .it had been partly responsible for the fine attendance.- Permission was granted the James Jeffrey Memorial Committee to erect a memorial tablet in the school, ,th<y unveiling to take place on the night of the break-up. The Visiting Committee reported that everything. wa« in a very satisfactory condition about the school. The Education Board had attended to several- matters which had been reported The new forms which the head master had asked ’ for ■in connection with the -holding of outdoor classes in fine weather had been installed. . and were greatly appreciated.
