Mr A. A. Richard, State Advances Office, j wrote in regard to the board’s application , for a loan. He understood the proposed - work wias repairing roads. This was not one of the purposes for which the depart- , ment was authorised to lend money.—The . Chairman explained the nosition, stating I that once a permit was obtained the loan could be secured, elsewhere. The Depart- ’ ment of Internal Affairs had authorised the f loan for the repairing of flood slips.—The , clerk to consult Mr J. M. Dickson, with a , view to expediting the work.
