SHIPWRECK RELIEF SOCIETY.

A ineefino- of the Shipwreck Relief Society of New "Zealand, held in the society's office yesterday afternoon, was presided over by Bm chairman. Mr C. W. Chamberlain. The Secretary reported that, the launch Maui was a fishing launch, and therefore came properlv within the scope of the activities of the society.—lt was agreed to allow discretion in the matter of affording relief in case of mishap to launches. The Union Steam Ship Company forwarded a cheque for £43 Is 6d, the net proceeds of a concert given in Suva by the Fiji Defence Forces Chib, assisted bv the officers and men of TI.M.S. Veronica. —Tie Chairman remarked that this was a new departure and a very welcome one. —The secretary was instructed to convey the thanks of tho society to the Fiji Defence Forces and to the officers and men of tlie Veronica. The Union Steam Ship Company and Huddart, Parker Company also forwarded the sum of £234 15s 6d,' the proceeds of entertainments given on the Marama, Manuka, Moeraki, Navua, Niagara, Manngarnii, Makura, Tahiti, and Ulimaroa.—lt was resolved to send a special letter of thanks io the pursers of each of the boats forwarding contributions and also to supply them with a copy of the society’s annual reoort and balance sheet. The sub-committee for the ensuing year was made to consist of the chairman, the treasurer, and Messrs D. E. Theomin and F 0. Bridgeman.
