EVIDENCE! OF THE RESPONDENT. ALLEGATIONS AGAINST HUSBAND. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, November 13. (Received Nov. 15, at 8.25 p.m.) In the Negor.io divorce case the respondent generally denied the charges. She gave evidence that on one occasion her husband asked her: “Do yon think there is any way we can get together and ruin Vitali? I must ruin this man.'’ On another occasion he told her; “Ecu know I do not hold you guilty. I know nothing against your character, but 1 must get Vitali out of the country.’’ This followed upon her husband mentioning that Vitali had obtained a certain shipping agency. It was when he found that Vitali did not leave the country that he commenced the divorce proceedings.—A. and N.Z. Cable. A cablegram from Sydney which appeared last week stated: “Francesco Lubrano di Negozio, a prominent shipping agent, who lives at Darling Point, is seeking a divorce from his wife on the ground of misconduct with Luigi Vitali, the Italian Consul, from whom £SOOO damages is claimed. The case is creating much interest. Both the respondent and the co-respondent deny the charges. On behalf of the respondent issues are raised against tho petitioner alleging cruelty and adultery with some person unknown. According to Lubranos story, after a futile conference at which, the parties tried to settle the matter, Vitali said; “If you are not satisfied I will fight a duel with you. If we cannot fight in Australia we can go to New Caledonia and fight there."
