HOSPITAL BOARD REPORT.
Following are summaries of the Benevolent and Sanatorium Committees' reports to be submitted at next meeting of the Otago Hospital Board: — The Benevolent Committee recommends that the provision of sun rooms at the infirmary ward, Otago Benevolent Institution, be approved, and that the committee be authorised to invite renders for the work; that authority be granted to renew 94- beds at the Otago Benevolent Institution, and the quotation of Messrs J. and W. Faulkner to supply same be accepted; that the rec|uisirion for new rugs and quilts required at the Otago Benevolent Instirution be approved. During the past mouth 47 cases for relief have been dealt with at- a weekly cost of £23 Os 6d. Casual cases for relief amounting to £235 Ids lOd have been approved. During the past month seven persons have been admitted to 10 discharged from and 142 patients remain in the institution. The Sanatorium Committee’s report states that the report of the Medical Director on the health of patients from the Southland district in the Pleasant Valley Sanatorium has been received and forwarded to the Southland Hospital Board. A reply; has been sent to the Waipiata Sanatorium Committee approving of a conference of that committtee with the North Canterbury and Otago Hospital Boards in reference to the sanatorium treatment of tuberculosis treatment in the South Island, the conference to be held in this board’s room at 7.30 o’clock p.m. on Thursday, November 29.
