'J ho monthly meeting of the George Street Softool Couunitteo was held on Wednesday evening, Mr 11. 8. Bingham presiding, A letter was received from the Otago Education Board staling that the average attendances for the hist and fourth quarters ot (he present year will maintain the school in its present grade, and the services of •Miss Anderson will be retained. The Head .Master reported that the present roll number is 531, and the average attendance!* for (lie past, four weeks were 508, 512, 511. and 618. ’1 he Bible classes will be brought; In a close this week. They had not been so successful this year as in previous years, owing to the frequent absences of some of the ministers. 'the annua! box-opening of the. Young Helpers' League of (lie Macaudrew Road School took place in the school gymnasium on 1' riday last. The amount contributed was £1 2s 6d. The president of the league (.Mrs W. Wright) and the two vice-presi-dents (Mrs Lethbridge and Mrs Johnson) entertained the members, and the children spent an enjoyable evening. The president offered prizes for the members who brought the largest mnyiber of new members during (ho year, and these were gained by Jessie Burt, Martha. Mackie, Lawrence Wright, and Donald Duckworth. There was a good attendance at the Inst regular meeting of Linden Lodge. 1.0.u.F. It was resolved to pay ah. official visit, to Maori Hill Lodge on November 13 on the ■ occasion of a “Trial by Jury” in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Albany street. A committee appointed to consider the question of a ritual team to visit by request, the Owaka Lodge furnished a report. It was decided to pav the visit, if possible, on November 17. The quarterly statement of finance indicated inter alia that the amount, disbursed in sick pay by the Linden 'Lodge had been comparatively light. The Grand Secretary. T.0.0.F. (Bro. F. Wilkinson), congratulated the lodge on its good fortune in this respect. The last ■ quarter, be stated, had been throughout the jurisdiction an unusually heavy one in respecl to claims on the sick fund. Two candidates were initialed and welcomed by the brethren. D.D.G.M. Bro. C. A. Bolton responded'on behalf of visiting brethren. The fortnightly meeting of Leith Lodge was held on Monday, October 29, N. Grand Brn. Oliver presiding over a fair attendance. One candidate was admitted to membership. The officers took the opportunity to rehearse the ceremony for the forthcoming competition. After business was concluded a vote of thanks was accorded the visitors, and was responded to by Bro. W. Winefield.
