The prison commissioners have ordered an inquiry at which 14 warders and prisoners will give evidence. Meanwhile four warders at Wormwood Scrubbs have been suspended. Bottomley is also likely to be called to explain how the articles were smuggled out of the prison.—A. and N.Z. Cable. On May 29 of last year Horatio Bottomley, then M.P. for South Hackney, was sentenced at the Old Bailey to seven years’ penal servitude for frauds connected with his Victory Bonds and other clubs.
