GREEK POLITICS

A REPUBLIC CONTEMPLATED. NO IMMEDIATE CHANGE. Pr«s* Association —By Telegraph—Copyright ATHENS, November 1. There are indications that the Greek Government is contemplating the proclaiming of a republic in consequence of facts which were revealed during the inquiry into the revolt. The Athens newspapers are openly discussing the question, and the Cabinet convened a meeting of the military and political leaders to consider the advisability of changing ti c form of government. At the close of the meeting a communique was issued stating that there was no reason to alter the policy hitherto followed. It is stated, semi-officially, that in the course of the meeting Colonel Gonatas expressed the opinion that the King was not concerned in the Metaxas rising.—Reuter.
