THE KING'S SONS
PRINCE OF WALES’S FUTURE. GOVERNMENT’S ANXIETY, LONDON. October 8. Inquiries regarding tho rumoured possibility of the Duke of York fulfilling the King’s desire that his sons should become Governors-General of tho chief dominions, thereby gaining a close knowledge of Imperial affairs, reveal that an early appointment is unlikely. It is recognised that the Duke of York has rapidly reached sound commen-senao manhood, fitting him for a \ ice-Regal position in any of the dominions, but the Government- is not likely to sanction an overseas appointment at present owing to the undisguised anxiety concerning the future of the Prince of Wales. All sections of the community hope to see the Prince o c Wales settle down oarlv. T( is known that the Government is disturbed at what is regarded ns the overaciivity of I lie Prince’s athletic, social, and other functions, which are considered unwise. as he docs not possess sufficient robustness for a strenuous life. There is consequently an earnest desire that he should cease his wanderings, marrv some English girl, and give his fullest attention to matters of State, while not altogether neglectin-r his social and eportmc* activities. Ministers feel that it would be unwdse for the Duke of York to go abroad until the Prince of Wales's future ha« been definitely decided. ____
