Armed gangs of roughs ar,t terrorising Sheffield, robbing on an extensive scale and brutally assaulting and beating every one who attempts to stop them; It is estimated that there are at least 200 members of the various gangs. The troudle is made worse because there are frequeut fights between the gangs. The police are .hopelessly outnumbered, and as they are unarmed they cannot meet men wi h knives and crowbars. .1 number of'.the gangs work in groups of j. 5 and 20.—-A. and N.Z. Cable.
