STOWAWAYS WELCOMED
SCOTSMEN IN CANADA. VANCOUVER, August 17. Seven young Scotsmen, who arrived at Montreal as stowaways by the steamer Cassandra, will probably remain in says a message from Ottawa, Judge Choquette refused to order their deportation, as they wore desirable immigrants, and sent them to gaol pending the Government’s decision. Tho St. Vincent do Paul Society has offered to pay their faros to the harvest fields and to supply them with pocket money if tho Government will ignore their technical breach of the law. It is expected that tho Government will agree.
