EX-GERMAN GROWN PRINCE
LONGING. FOR THE FATHERLAND. SATISFIED WITH ORDINARY CITIZENSHIP, Prase Association —By Telegraph—Copyrijf-. i LONDON, August 26. The Hague correspondent of the Daily Mail says that the Crown Prince of Germany, interviewed, declared: “The day will come when I must return to the Fatherland. I only want to live there like an ordinary citizen, with my family, and in no way to increase the present chaos in Germany; ’so I must wait for better times.”—A, and N.Z. Cable. The Doom correspondent of the Daily Express telegraphed on August 14: “The ex-Crown Prince, interviewed, said: “I am longing to return to the Eatherland. I consider that this is only my right as a German, without any political considerations.’ ” Writing on July 3 the Berlin correspondent of the Manchester Guardian stated; “I hear from an authoritative source that the German Crown Prince is multiplying his efforts to return to Germany. Exile on the island of Wioringen has been very dreary for one of his active disposition. At first he seemed reconciled by his long stay in Holland, but the gradual Weakening of Republican fervour in Germany and the increasing activity on the part of the Nationalists seem to be kindling his hopes anew. In March Von Mildner, his adjutant, came to Berlin and saw President Ebert several times. He discussed the idea of the Crown Prince’s return, and put forward the argument on the strength of which the Prince is pleading for permission to enter Germany—namely, that other German princes are allowed to remain in the country without any hindrance.”
