REPUBLICAN PROMISES. ELECTION PROGRAMME ISSUED. Prau Aiaociation—By Telegraph— Copyright LONDON, August 26. The Republican programme, issued on the evo of the elections in Ireland, is a catalogue of fair promises. It includes the ideal of justice and brotherhood, the abolition of murder gangs, the safeguarding of life and property, religious and political toleration, the wiping out of all internal dissension and bitterness, the ending of the unemployment by remunerative works, the development of industries, the provision of workers’ houses, the restoration of the Irish language to its rightful place, and finally tire offer to England of peace based on the sovereignty and integrity of the Irish nation. The programme offers North-east Ulster peace based on such a measure of local autonomy as is consistent with the unity of Ireland.—Reuter. RESULT OF ELECTION. ESTIMATE UNLIKELY BEFORE • FRIDAY. A LABOUR GRIEVANCE. LONDON, August 27. (Reveived Aug. 27, at 8.50 p.m.) A Dublin message states that few of the results of the polling are expected before Wednesday, and-a trustworthy estimate of the final result is unlikely before Friday. It is probable that proportional representation will have unexpected results, as there is likely to be much splitting of the suffrages. There is ill-feeling in Labour circles owing_ to a general holiday having been proclaimed for election day. Labour complains that this means that no wages will be paid, and also that many voters will take a week-end holiday and not return to their homes until Tuesday, when the polling will be concluded.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
