AMERICAN PROHIBITION
LIQUOR EXPORT FROM CANADA. PREVENTIVE BILLS DEFEATED. Frees Association—By Telegraph—Copyrigat OTTAWA, June 21. The House of Commons defeated two Bills submitted with the object of curbing liquor exportations. One Bill sought to make it unlawful to ship liquor to any foreign country until a consular certificate from that country had been granted showing the importation to be legal under its laws. The second Bill sought to make it unlawful to export liquor by any vessel previously in the liquor trade, unless the owner proved its former cargo to have reached the port of destination. The passage of these Bills would have considerably reduced exportations of liquor to the United States, which are legal so far as the Canadian law is concerned.—A. and N.Z. Cable. ENFORCEMENT IN WISCONSIN. REPEAL BILL DEFEATED. NEW YORK, June 21. (Received June 22, at 9.10 p.m.) Madison (Wisconsin) reports that the State Senate killed by 19 votes to 12 the Bill to repeal the Prohibition Enforcement Act which the State Assembly had approved by 47 votes to 43.—A. and N.Z. Cable. The Wisconsin State Assembly recentlyapproved of repealing the State Prohibition Enforcement Act by 47 votes to 43. According to local procedure the Bill was sent for engrossment, after which it was re-submitted to the Assembly. Thereafter the measure was sent to the Senate, which has previously killed several less drastic anti-prohibition proposals.
