Noble Grand Bro. J. Shore presided over a good attendance of members at Unity Lodge on Monday night. Several 'brothers were reported to be under the care of the medical officer, and the various claims were passed for payment. Correspondence was dealt with after routine business. Two candidates were admitted to membership, and four proposals were received. Nominations for officers for the next term were received Oy the N.G. It was resolved to set aside the meeting night on June 18 on account of the lecture - by Bro. Umbers and to invite sister lodges to attend. A very pleasant evening was spent at the meeting of the Kensington Juvenile Lodge on Saturday night, N.G. Bro. Homan presiding Sick claims for two brothers were passed for payment. During the evening three candidates were admitted to membership, after which P.G. Master Bro. D. Miller delivered a very interesting address. The president, Bro. Bonham, extended to Bro. Miller the thanks of the members for his evening’s enterh'ynment. Grand Treas. Bro. L. D. Ritchie and Bro. Lankersheer, of Highgate Lodge, also briefly addressed the boys. . A splendid attendance was the result at the fortnightly meeting of Pioneer Lodge No. 1. Several claims upon the benefit funds were passed, and reports were received of those brothers who are laid aside with ' illness. Special mention was made relative to a very old member, who, although unable to attend the meetings, still retained a keen interest in the welfare of his lodge. It was resolved to send congratulations and best wishes to Bro. Holmes upon reaching his eighty-fourth birthday. During the meeting the initiatory degree was conferred upon three candidates.. Owing to the syllabus ftem of 11 1 e handbook having to be postponed, it ■ was resolved to invire the members of Leith Lodge to a card tournament at next meeting Prior to closing, acknowledgments were voiced bv the D.D.G.M.' and brothers from Leith, Unitv. and Tahakopa Lodges.
