D.J.C. WINTER MEETING, ACCEPTANCES FOR SATURDAY. The following acceptances have been received for the first day’s races, Saturday, 2nd June:— TRIAL HURDLE HANDICAP, Of 250sovs. One mile and a-half.

WINGATUI TRAINING NOTES. Notes by Sentinel A fairly good frost which fell overnight made tho atmosphere rather sharp at Wingatui on Monday morning. A good deal of work took place, but the gallopers were confined to steady work on the outside of the course proper, and a few were schooled over tho fences and hurdles. The going on the course proper is quite firm and in excellent order for the meeting, particularly tortile ’chasing and hurdling—in fact, tne track is remarkably sound after the deluge experienced about three weeks ago. Tornea was sent over a round of the schooling fences, j limning 12 obstacles, and gave an excellent display. Matatua* and Londonderry were companions in a'round over the hurdles, during which both shaped satisfactorily. Isla Bank went clean away from Orange Bitters in a round of the schooling fences. The former jumped quickly and cleverly, but the latter dwelt badly at each obstacle. General Petain was sent over three or four fences. Loughrea did strong half-pace work over a couple of circuits, and bowled along in pleasing style, vagabond and Gladful did similar work, and were anxious to increase the pace. Both the visitors look in good shape for their engageemnts. Bonnie Winkie got through a useful task, and others doing steady work included Windermere, Barrister, Kuona, Incursio, Martian Miss, Bonnetter, Birkenella, \and several others, but as it was an off morning nothing went against the watch. INTER-UNIVERSITY HOCKEY. . OTAGO DRAWS WITH VICTORIA , COLLEGE. (Pee United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 28. The inter-university hockey match, Otago v. Victoria College, was played at Karori Park to-day, and resulted in a draw. The ground was in bad condition. During the game heavy showers of rain fell, and play for the most part was very ragged, although there were some bright flashes. Otago had slightly the better of the first half, but in spite of their determined attack were unable to penetrate the Wellington defence. At half-time there was no score. The second half was very even. Soon after starting Bridgeman scored for Otago, and shortly afterwards Foeden brought the score .level again. Bridgeman, Button, and Davies were the most prominent of the Otago players, while Foeden, Cousins, and Hain ployed well for Victoria College. CYCLING. BORDEAUX TO PARIS RACE.
