NAPIER WOOL SALE. I SATISFACTORY PRICES. (Pbe United Pherb AssooiatiC n.) NAPIER, May 23. The last Napier wool sale of the season was held to-day, when a small catalogue of 2438 bales was offered to a fair attendance of buyers. There was not a particularly good selection of wool, and bidding was not very animated. However, prices compared favourably with the Wellington sale. The following is the range of prices obtained; Fine Crossbred. —Average, Hid to Hid; inferior, BJd to 9Jd. Medium Crossbred. —Average, IOJd to 13d; inferior, 8d to 3-id. Coarse Crossbred. —Average, 9d to lOid; inferior, 7Jd to Bj|d. Low Crossbred. —Average, 8d to BJd; inferior, '6Jd to 7Jd. Hoggets.—Medium, lid to 12id; coarse, Sd to 9id. Lambs. —Fine, 12d to 14d; medium, lOd to Hid. Bellies and Pieces.—Crossbred, good to super, 8d to 9d; crossbred, low to medium, 5Jd to 7d. ’ Crutchings.—Good, 7Jd to BJd; medium, GJd to 7Jd; inferior and seedy, 4d to sid. Locks. —Crossbred, 4d to sd. PROPERTY SALE. Acting under instructions from the trustees in the estate of Mrs F. A. Raphael (deceased), Messrs Alex Harris and Co. submitted at auction yesterday part of allotment 7 and allotments 8,9, 10, and 11, block 11, township of Richmond Hill, Mornington. The area of land sold with the house being 3 roods 20 poles. House contains nine rooms, and is known as "Mia Mia,” 36 Havelock street. Bidding commenced at £109!) and quickly rose to £I6OO, it being knocked down at this figure to Mr B. Sparrow (as agent). Section 11, comer of Elgin road and Havelock street, and adjoining the above property, containing 1 rood (more or less), was sold to Mr K. M'Parlane for £260. LONDON WOOL SALES. - Messrs Dalgety and Co. (Ltd.) report having received the following cable from London, dated May 26: “Next public wool sales /will be held from June 26 to July 20. The list of arrivals will be closed on June 11 or earlier date when new arrivals amount to 116,000 hales, Australasian and Cape, Probable quantity to be offered at next sale will amount to about 220,000 bales, including 20,000 bales Punta Arenas, 62,000 bales Bawra, 22,000 bales carried forward.” DAIRY PRODUCE. The National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand reports being in receipt of the following cable from Messrs A. J. Mills and Co., (Ltd.), London, dated July 26; “Butter: Quiet. Salted, 140 s to 1425; unsalted, 144 a. Cheese: Weak, C4s.” Scott Bros., produce merchants and commission agents, agents_ for the Egg and Poultry Growers’ Association, Dunedin, report : —Eggs: Wholesale only, quiet; fresh, 2s 8d per dozen; Circle stamped, in crates, 2s 9d per dozen; preserved, Is 9d per dozen. Butter; Dairy pats, Is 5d per lb. Honey: Quiet; prime clover, bulk, SJd to 6d per lb; 101 b tins, os 6d to 6s each. Beeswax, Is 6d per lb. Put, 20a to 23s per cwt. Poultry: Hens, 3a per pair; cockerels, 4s to 6s per pair; ducks, 5s 6d to Gs 6d per pair; geese nominally 8s per pair. Turkeys: Hens, 9d per lb; gobblers, lOd per lb. Pigs: Baconers, GJd to 6Jd per lb; porkers, 7d per lb. Potatoes: Best tables scarce; £9 10s to £lO. per ton. Onions; Canterbury to hand, £6 15s per ton; Melbourne, £lO per ton. Chaff: Wanted; prime oaten sheaf, £5 5s to £5 10s per ton, sacks extra; medium quality in over-supply. Oats, 3s 3d per bushel, sacks extra. Whole fowl wheat, 4s 6d per bushel, sacks extra. Straw: Pressed wheaten. £3 10s; oaten, £4 per ton, ex store. Please Note: Pigs and poultry must arrive not later than Thursday mornings. We can supply petrol, motor lubricating oils and greases, lucerne and poultry meal, hulled oats, shell grit, Pareora meat meal, leg rings, toe punches, charcoal, wire netting, Star brand chicken food, and egg crates. May 28. GRAIN AND PRODUCE REPORT. Messrs Donald Reid and Co., wunedin, report as under; Oats. —There is a good demand for heavy A Gartens, suitable for milling. Wc quote: Good milling Gartons, 3s 2d; A Gartons, 3s to 3a Id; B Gartons, 2s lOd. Wheat. —Millers arc taking all lines of good milling at full rates. Fowl wheat is in good demand at 4s per bushel. Potatoes.—The market for good quality is firm at £lO per ton. Chaff.—ln the bulk of the lines coming forward, there is- a largo percentage of wet and discoloured chaff, which is difficult to sell. Prime chaff is in good demand at £5 10s per ton; good to best feed, £4 to £5; medium, light, and discoloured, £3 10s to £4 per ton, sacks extra. Messrs Dalgety and Co. (Ltd.), Dunedin, report as follows: - Oats. —This market, particularly for heavy Gartons suitable for milling, has finned, and we quote: Heavy milling ■ Gartons, 3s 2d; A Gartons, 3s to 3s Id; B Gartons, 2s lOd; under-grade, from 2s per bushel, sacks extra,. Wheat. —Prices payable to farmers from June 1 aro as follows: —Tuscan, 5s IJd; Hunters, 5« 3UI; Velvet, 5a SJd per bushel, t.o.b, nearest port, sacks extra. Fowl Wheat. —This market is unchanged, and we quote up to 4s per bushel, sacks extra. Potatoes.—Supplies are short and best tables are realising up to £lO per ton. Chaff.—There is a good demand at an advanced price for prime oaten sheaf for ship-
ment, and wc quote: Prime oaten sheaf, to £5 10s; good to best feed, £1 10s to £5; inferior, £2 15s per ton, sacks extra.
