TUAPEKA DOG TRIALS
The Tuapoka Collie Dog Club trials opened on Tuesday in and concluded on Wednesday! The arrangements for the carrying out of the ©vents were first class, and for this the club is indebted to Messrs Potts Bros, on whoso farm the trials were held, as not only did they give the use of their ground, but lent very valuable help in carting hurdles and sledges to and from tiie ground. The entries at the start were not large but towards the end they reached last year’s and the club should ehow a balance on the right side. The following are the results of the remaining three events: All-comers. First prize £6 and Mr G. R. Talbovs’s challenge cup, second £3, third £2, fourth £l. About 500 yards.—Mr R. Cowie’s Chub, 20 joints, 1; Mr J. Rose’s Kui, 27 points, 2; Mr XV.'Bulfin’s Jet, 25 points, 3; Mr L. Harris’s Tom, 24 points, 4. Open Huntaway. First prize £5, second £3, third £2, fourth £l.—Mr L. Fahey’s Jack, 2!) points, X; Mr XV. Smith’s Jack, 28 points, 2; Mr R. Turnbull’s Ned, 27 points, 3; Mr R. Turnbull’s Bob, 26 points, 4. Local. First prize £4, second £3, third £2, fourth £l. About 4-00 yards.—Mr R. Turnbull’s Roy, 27 points, 1; Mr J. Rose’s Kui-, 26 points, 2; Mr R. Wood’s Tweed, 25 points, 3: Mr A. Robertson’s Jade, 24 points, 4. The following are the winners of special prizes:—Mr R. Cowie (challenge cup), Mr L. Adams (Mr F. W. Coles’s £1 Is for competitor coming longest distance to trials), and Mr W. Bulfin’s (Mr J. R. Paul’s trophy for competitor making fastest head in local).
