COUNTY ELECTIONS.
THE NOMINATIONS. The following persons were nominated yesterday as riding representatives on the Taieri County Council, and there being no more than the required number they were declared duly elected’—Charles Findlay (North Taieri), Waller Blackio (East Taieri), A. Scott (Kaikorai), J. W. Blair (Outram), R. A. Kempsholl (Maungatua), F. Doherty (Deep Stream), and D. Matheaon (Strath Taieri). They wore all members of the late council. For the Otokia riding W. 11. L. Christie and D. M'lutosh have been nominated, and an election will be hold ,ou May 9. Mr A. F. Quelch was re-elected unnopposed to represent the combined district of Taieri County and Mosgiel on. tho Otago Hospital Board. LAKE COUNTY. (Feom Oub Own Correspondent.) QUEENSTOWN, April 30. For the Lake County elections Messrs Leo Lee, James M’Mullan the younger, and John Edward O’Cornell were to-day norm nated for two seats in Queenstown Riding, and Messrs George Reid (sitting member) and Henry Adams were nominated for one seat in Greenstone Riding, hence a poll wiii require to bo taken in each of these ridings. Others nominated and elected unopposed wore: Arrow Riding: Messrs William M’Kibbin and William S. Reid (sitting members). Matukituki Riding: Mr William Reid (sitting member). Shotovor Riding: Mr H. J. Lewis (sitting member). Gardrona. Riding: Mr W. A. Seaife. Kingston Riding: Mr A. A. M’Caughan. For n. seat on the Southland Hospital Board the present member, Mr Georgo Shepherd Edie, is being opposed by Mr Jas. W. Miller, and for one district representative on tho Bluff Harbour Board the present member, Mr Peter Reid, is being opposed by Mr J J. M’Bride. i BRUCE COUNTY. YESTERDAY’S NOMINATIONS. Nominations of candidates for triennial election of councillors for the Bruce County Council closed at noon yesterday. The retiring councillors for Balmoral No. 1, Balmoral No. 2, Crichton, Glenjedi, Inchcluthn and Matau, Kaitnngala, and Mount Stuart Ridings were returned unopposed for a further term. Two candidates wore nominated for Clarendon Riding, four for Tokomairiro Riding, and two for Waihola Riding. Tho polling takes place on Wodnos day, May 9, throughout tho different ridings. RE-ELECTED UNOPPOSED. Balmoral No. 1 Riding: James Allan. Balmoral No. 2 Riding: Adam King. Crichton Riding: Jasper Clark. Glonledi Riding : David Gardyne. Inchclutha and Matau Riding: Alexander Ronton. Kaitangata Riding: Thomas Johnson. Mount Stuart Riding: William John Sheat. CONTESTED ELECTIONS. Clarendon Riding: Andrews, Frederick Charles: Driver, Harry Maclean. Tokornairiro Riding: M‘Gregor, Donald; Russell, Thomas Huise; Lockhart, James: Scott, Thomas. Waihola Riding: Bell, William; Williamson, Peter. The following nominations for election of three members to represent Bruce County Council on the South Otago Hospital Board were received: —James Allan. Jasper Clark, and Harry Maclean Driver. These wore elected unopposed. Messrs J. Clark and El. M. Driver were members of the retiring beard, whilst Mr King replaces Mr Win. A. Blair, who resigned owing to having left the district. ’
Mr Thomas Huise Russell (Milburn) was re-elected unopposed as representative on the Otago Harbour Board for the combined districts of Bruce, Clutha, Tuapeka, ■ and Maniototo Counties. The candidate’s proposers were Messrs Alex. Rennie and Henry Simson (Mayors of Milton and Ealclulha respectively). ■
