TAIERI RIVER TRUST
ENGINEER’S REPORT. The engineer of tho Taieri River Trust (Mr B. B. Couston) reports as follows for the month of February: Tho West Taieri workmen have cleared MTiattic’s drain, cut the second drain at Mr Miller’s for the purpose of removing seepage from the contour channel, cleared the willows from the contour channel, and cleared part of the drain from P. M’Donald’s to Granton and J. Bathgate’s. The Mauncatua workmen have cleared Poplar drain from Henley drain to B drain, and have cleared B drain from Lee Canal to tho pump. The whole of the workmen, with a carpenter and two teams, are now employed lowering tho box under the Loc Canal and deepening CO chains of the canal by a depth of 18in to 2ft. Good progress has been made with the work, notwithstanding the inclemency of the weather. I should like your instructions regarding the deepening of the drains connecting Loch Ascog with the pump. The Henley Dairy . Company has renewed the water supply pipe that crosses the river embankment at the factory. Instructions have been given to repair the contour embankment where low between Drake’s and Heenan’s bridge, and also to remove the block at Rioss’s Creek if the adjoining owners -find horses and drays. i submit for your information a list of the bridges and culverts on 18 of the roads within the River Trust district, and wall supplement this with a list of the remaining roads next month.
