CITIZENS’ GARDEN FETE

The citizens’ annual garden fete will be held in the Botanic Gardens on Saturday, March 10. All manner of attractive entertainments have been arranged, including music by our local bands, dancing displays by the Otago School of Dancing, gymnastic displays by the Otago High School boys, and acrobatics by Mr J. P. Northey s clever juveniles. Highland dancing competitions will also be held, end there will be side shows, stalls, and several other attractions. The residents of Maori Hill and the Opoho Tennis Club will both have control of a jumble stall. The cricketers will control the sweets stall, the Rugby footballers the produce stall, the Soccer players the soft drinks and ice cream stall, and the tennis and hockey players the refreshment tent In connection with the fete an art union will be held, the prizes being gold nuggets valued at £25, £ls, and £lO. These tickets may be obtained at all tobacconists and at the music warehouses, and will admit to the fete. They will nst be on sale at the gates. The proceeds of the fete will go towards improving the playing areas .in the city and suburbs, so by offering their patronage the public will be assisting in improving their own property.
