FLOOD IN NELSON. PORTION OF TOWN INUNDATED. {From Oce Own Correspondent.) NELSON, January 22. Heavy rain has caused floods in the low* lying portions of the town. The rivers are in heavy flood, and considerable damage has been done to crops. A large landslip came down on the Glenbope railway line, but gangs of men are engaged in clearing it)* away. HEAVY RAIN IN TARANAKI. SLIP ON RAILWAY LINE. RAILWAY TRAFFIC DELAYED.

CHILDREN’S FORTUNATE ESCAPE. (Per United Press- Association.) AUCKLAND, January 22. A severe thunderstorm passed over the city early this morning, a house owned by Mr Cunnold at Edendale being struck by lightning. The current apparently struck the building under the eaves, tearing off the weatherboards and entering th# room.
