MAGISTRATE’S COURT
Thursday, January 18. (Before Mr J. I!. Bartholomew, S.M.) Judgment was given for plaintiffs by default in the following cases: University of Otago v. M. D. Wreathall (Christchurch), claim jEI-2 12s, for work done and material movided (costs, IT Us); Chambers and hon v. Arthur Bulman (Fairfax), claim tls Id, for goods supplied (costs, 15si ; Nimnio and Blair v. Henry 11. Bills (Otaki), claim £2 Os tid, for goods supplied (costs Tls,, Wimpenny Bros, and Held v. Alexander M‘Arthur (Wyndham), claim £1 15s 3d, tor goods supplied (costs, 3s); W. Gregg and Co. v. J. Murray (Timaru), claim £7 3s fid, for dishonoured cheque and interest (costs, 13s).
,Judgment Summons. -Booth, Macdonald, and Co. (Christchurch) v. VC C. Burke, claim £7 Iks sd.—There being no appearance of the defendant, an order was made tor payment of the amount claimed, with costs (Ills), in default eight days' imprisonment. Defended Cases.--.!. H. Caldwell (Mr Hay) proceeded against Mrs At. I'. Weir (Port Chalmers) on a claim for £3 Is, the balance due on the sale of a mare in August, ltl-21.—Defendant opposed the claim, but admitted writing a let ter (produced) to plaintiff, in which she said that she would assume all responsibility for the marc.—Judgment was given for the plaintiff for the amount claimed, with costs (£3 Is).—-L, (I. Newton (Mr Sinclair) proceeded against Percy Willis (Mr Calvert) on a claim for £6 ss. for work clone and material supplied.—After the defendant and his wife had given evidence, the Magistrate) granted judgment for £2 14s, with costs (£1 17s),
