The Hon. Sir John Sinclair, M.L.C., was a passenger for Wellington by the second express yesterday. Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P. for Avon, returned to Christchurch by the second express yesterday. Mr J. C. MiGcorge was a passenger for Timaru by the second express yesterday. Mr Burton. S.M., returned to Auckland by yesterday’s second express. Mr J. Ross Thomson, secretary of the Theosophical Society, was a passenger for Auckland by the second express yesterday. Inspector Broberg returned to Wellington by the second express yesterday. Captain Coll M'Donald, marine superintendent of the Union Steam Ship Company, returned to Wellington by the second express yesterday. Mr Abraham Lind, a wcll-knoWn preacher in Dunedin, will shortly leave this city to take up bis residence in the North Island. Dr Victor K. Galway will return to Dunedin about January 29. He is the first to qualify for the Australian degree, which has been sal for by 19 candidates in the last 16 years. Colonel Slater, passenger representative in Australia for the Canadian Pacific Railway Company, arrived at Dunedin on Wednesday evening from the north on a business visit. He will leave to-morrow for the north on his return to Sydney. Mr William W. Wadman, New Zealand manager of the Fox Film Company, has resigned his position, after six and a-half years’ service. It is Mr Wadman s intention to further associate himself with the film industry in New 7 Zealand. Mr W- A.' Briscoe, chairman of directors of Messrs Briscoe and Company (Lta.), of London, is in Dunedin for a few days. - Mr Briscoe is on a business visit to New Zealand, and is accompanied by his son, Mr R. G. Briscoe. At the meeting of the executive of the Returned Soldiers’ Association last night, a motion of sympathy was passed with the relatives of Messrs W. Kitto, T. A. laylor. W. J. Bryan, and S. Pilling, four members who had died since the last meeting. Mr A. Adams, who has held the nosition of teller in the Queenstown branch of the Bank of New Zealand for nearly four and a-half years, has been transferred to Dunedin. Mr W. Harper, of the latter office, will take his place at Queenstown. Mr P. B. Foote. of the Perpetual Trustees Company (Ltd.), will proceed to Timaru at the end of the month to take up the position, of district manager of the company's South Canterbury branch. Mr A. Ibbotson, who has represented the company at Timaru for upwards of. two years, will return to the head office, Dunedin, next month. .... The death took nlace at his home m Filleul st-eet on Wednesday of Mr James Gilmour Yates, the well-known musician. Mr Yales has played for dances for over 30 years, and until recently he was associated with Mr George Death in supplying dance music. His last engagement was .n September. 1921. At the Victoria College meeting on Wednesday night- (says a W ellington Press Association message), Professor D. U. Ho graduated in New Zealand as M.A. with first-class honours in 1908, and M.i-c. ..i 1909 The appointment was made on teir Ernest Rutherford's lecommendation out of 13 applications from various parts of the Empire. ___
