SAMOAN ADMINISTRATOR APPOINTED. [Feom Onn Own CobbesponpentJ " ‘ WELLINGTON, January .9. Colonel R. W. Tate, -who has just been appointed to the magistracy, has been for the last four years Administrator of Samoa, which position he is vacating during the next few weeks. For many years Colonel Tate practised as a solicitor in the Wairarapa “district, he having been admitted to the Ear in 1886. He took a deep , interest in military matters, and has held, particularly during the war, several. .important positions under the New Zealand defence system. In 1914 he relinquished his law practice and was appointed to the . command of the Wellington military dig- 1 trict, holding that appointment until 1816, when he accepted the office of Adjutentgeneral to tine New Zealand Forces, which position he filled until his appointment in 1919 as Administrator of Samoa. If has not yet been decided where Colonel Tate will ho stationed, or when he will assume his new duties.
