According to police statistics there were 192 mul'ders in Paris during 1922, compared with 424 in the previous year and 262 in 1920. The majority in 1922 were due to jealousy or illicit love. The knife was less used for murder than formerly. It is mostly negroes from Senegal, Algeria, and Morocco who use the knife. There were 720 suicides in Paris during 1922—mostly of young people who were disappointed in life through lack of money. —Reuter.
