THE HASTINGS TOURNAMENT. WILDING MEMORIAL CUP. (Pm United Press Association.) HASTINGS, January 1. The Wilding memorial cup and banner were won by Canterbury with 3 points; Waikato was second with 2 points. At the conclusion of the tournament tho prizes were presented by Mr Cato, president of the New Zealand Association. The speakers congratulated the Hastings Tennis Club on tho complete arrangements mode for- conducting this most successful tofirnament. Doris Hart (Dunedin) won the Hawke's Bay Girls’ Championship. TEAM TO VISIT AUSTRALIA. (Per United Press Association.) HASTINGS, January 2. Messrs Goldie (chairman), Joss, and Thomson, the selectors appointed to select a team of six men to visit Australia in March next have sent in a selection of 12 men, who will be asked to practise in view of the final selection on or before February 6. The 12 men chosen are: Aitken, L. .Prance, Greenwood, Griffiths, Laurenson, OUivier, Peacock, Robson, Sims,! Swanson, Wallace, and Wilding (in alphabetical order). The committee has reserved the right to consider the selection of Bartlett and Seay after being supplied with some information asked, for concerning these players, who are ot present in Australia. The selection of four New Zealand ladies to play the New South Wales ladies at Wellington on January 12 and 13 will to announced to-morrow. The New South Wales ladies will return to Wellington on Saturday. It is raining steadily, and there was no play to-day in the Hawke’s Bay tournament. MEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES.
