ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES

(Psb United Pbehs Association.) ■ TAIHAPE, December 26. Maurice Morgan, of Napier, was killed in a car accident between 'i'aihupe and Moawhango yesterday. The car went over a steep bank into tho river, and Morgan was pinned underneath the ear and drowned. There wore five others in tho car, which was driven by Mr IT. E. Davis, manager of the Taihapo Freezing Works. These included Mrs Davis, Mr and Mia Morgan, Mrs Minn, and tho small hoy Davis. These were thrown on to the bank of tho river. Mrs Minn was knocked about, and is now in hospital, bin the others are not seriously injured. Morgan’s body has not yet been, recovered. The car is a complete wreck. ROTORUA, December 26. James O’Keefe, 66 years of ago, one of the oldest European residents of Rotorua, of over 40 years’ standing, was found unconscious with his, fa.ee covered with blood at noon yesterday ’outside the cottage, where he lived alone. He was removed to tho King George Hospital, where he died last night. At an inquest this afternoon the verdict was death due to cerebral haemorrhage. Deceased was a carpenter, and latterly received remittances from Ireland.
