DOMINION EXHIBITION
INSPECTION BY GOVERNMENT OFFICERS. IFeou Oub Own Coeeespondent.) CHRISTCHURCH, December 12. At the opening of the Dominion Exhibition in Christchurch the Hon. E. P. Lee (Minister of Industries and Commerce) promised the executive that he would endeavour to arrange through the lion. J. G. Coates (chairman of the Public Service Stores Control Board) for a delegation to visit the exhibition consisting of the principal buying officers and one or two members of the board. Mr Lee considered it was necessary that the officers who were responsible for making recommendations to the board regarding the large purchases of supplies needed by the Government, should closely inspect the exhibits and thus receive first hand information as to what is being made in the dominion. Mr Coates readily acquiesced in the suggestion and a visit is now being arranged for this week-end. Ihe delegation will comprise Messrs R. B. Morris (secretary of the Post Office), A. E. Shrimpton (chief telegraph engineer), E. J. Guinness (Comptroller of Stores, New Zealand Railways). ■C. H. Nidi oil a (stores manager. Post and Telegraph Department), G. R. Drury (stores manager. Public Works Deportment), G. C. Holder (diief clerk, Mental Hospitals Department), and the secretary of the board, Mr F. J. Brooker. The delegation will bo under the charge of Mr J. W. Collins (secretary of the Department of Industries ana Commerce) and the inspection will start at 11 a.m. to-morrow. The Exhibition Executive is also arranging for visits to bo made to certain manufacturing industries in Christchurch, and for a private view of industrial films at the exhibition.
