CHANGE OR DESIGN?

EARL BALFOUR’S GIFFORD LECTURES. . Press Association—By Telegraph— Copyrigat LONDON, November 24. (Received Nov. 26, at 5.3 p.m.) Earl Balfour, delivering the Gifford lectures at Glasgow University, discussed the question of design in the universe. It was folly, he said, to suppose that mera blind force could account for all the true value of life, intellectual and scientific. If we had to choose between blind chanca and guidance we must choose the idea that guidance was behind the phenomena of tha universe.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
